New windows for your Liverpool home could prove to be an effective cost-saving measure, as well as a profitable one.
Recent research has shown that a new boiler and central heating are the most profitable improvements that can be made to homes in the UK. Other changes that could improve the energy efficiency of a home were also popular, the survey showed.
Double glazing was one of the most popular projects, with 29 per cent of people saying they were considering installing it, while 28 per cent saying they were thinking of a new boiler or plumbing.
“Most people who are thinking of selling their home or looking to improve it to add value will consider the merits of a trip to the DIY store, some will even consider doing some building work in the hope of adding value but not all buyers will be prepared to pay for your idea of improvements or good taste,”
...said Henry Pryor, a property buyer who worked on the research.
GoCompare home insurance carried out the study which has developed a property investment calculator which shows how much improvements will add value to a property.
Energy improvements such as a new boiler, central heating and double glazing could all add four per cent to the value of a home, more than new flooring which does not add or lose value, or adding solar panels which can reduce value due to buyers being wary of the tariffs they may be tied into.
